Century Tool expands production capacity of large composite molds

Century Tool Company of the United States is a company engaged in the development of composite tooling under the Tooling Tech Group. Recently, the company announced that it will expand its compression mold manufacturing business with the installation of a new FPT Ronin EVO 3 + 2-axis horizontal milling machine.

The new machine is capable of manufacturing workpieces that are 343 inches long, 100 inches wide, and 120 inches high, so they can easily handle large stainless steel or aluminum alloy molds. At the same time, the company is capable of making molds weighing more than 100,000 pounds.

The new machine is an upgrade of one of the two existing FTP 4-axis machining centers at the Century plant. The factory has 15 advanced equipment capable of drilling, milling, 3D roughing, semi-finishing and finishing of stainless steel and aluminum alloy. Century Tool can provide sheet molding compound (SMC), ball molding compound (BMC), resin transfer molding (RTM), direct long fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite (D-LFT), and dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) And carbon fiber composite materials (CFRP) and other molding processes and compression molds required for high-performance materials.
