German automotive parts manufacturing company Continental AG recently opened an 8,000-square-meter 3D printing center in Karben.
Continental 3D Printing Center Manager Torsten Rauch said, "Due to its many advantages, 3D printing is becoming more and more important. The increasing number of additive manufacturing components is a testament. This time we opened a 3D printing center in Karben to help us test Technology, research and development processes and processes, and promote production globally. "
It is understood that the center can use a variety of additive manufacturing technologies, including selective laser melting for metals, selective laser sintering (SLS), and stereolithography (SLA) for plastics such as PA, PP or polystyrene ), Digital light printing (DLP), and fused deposition modeling (FDM).
Continental mainly uses these advanced additive manufacturing technologies to produce parts such as calipers, fluid reservoirs and pumps. The new 3D printing center will integrate the entire process from design to production. At the same time, the center can also test, certify and modify 3D printed parts.
