On August 29, 2019, China Classification Society (CCS) held a high-speed ship fire resistance material / separation approval and fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) ship construction stage summary and technical exchange meeting in Zhuhai. Representatives from the China Shipbuilding Industry Association's Boat Branch (CBITA), CCS related plan approval centers and branches, shipyards and refractory manufacturers across the country attended the meeting.
At the meeting, CCS technical experts explained the design of the fire resistance partition, fire resistance test, type approval, and actual ship application in detail in accordance with the requirements of regulations and specific cases. And invited Changzhou FRP Shipyard Co., Ltd. and Yaguang Technology Group Co., Ltd., which have obtained type approval, to exchange technical experience. Tang Weiwei, Secretary General of China Shipbuilding Industry Association's Boat Branch (CBITA), spoke on how to respond to regulatory requirements to promote the development of China's boat industry. In the end, all units fully discussed and exchanged technical issues of concern, and put forward constructive opinions on how to improve the efficiency of recognition and engineering applications.
Fire resistance material / separation is the statutory requirements for structural fire prevention in the International High Speed Ship Safety Regulations 2000 (referred to as the HSC Code 2000) and domestic ship regulations adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) resolution. And applications have high technical complexity.
After nearly two years of joint efforts by CCS and the industry, the high-speed ship fire resistance separation of the two shipyards of Changzhou FRP Shipyard Co., Ltd. and Yaguang Technology Group Co., Ltd. has passed the fire resistance test and obtained the type approval certificate issued by CCS. The fire resistance separation of Jiangsu Xingrui Defense Technology Co., Ltd. and Fujian Ailege Yacht Industry Co., Ltd. has passed the fire resistance test, and the approval certificate is in the process of being processed. In addition, many shipyards are applying for approval and fire resistance test. The successful obtaining of the type approval certificate also marks the breakthrough of technical barriers in structural fire protection of fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) applied to high-speed ships, official ships and small coastal ships.
This meeting summarized and exchanged the technical results obtained in the previous stage in a timely and comprehensive manner, laying a solid foundation for the large-scale application of fire resistance materials / separation approval for high-speed ships, which is beneficial to the promotion of the fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) ship industry.
