Chinese carbon fiber material manufacturer’s marine composite propeller project won the first prize Hay:D02WHGW

On May 8-10, 2021, the 8th China Composite Materials Technology Conference (NCCT-8) in the field of transportation was successfully held in Zhejiang Province. Industry experts, scientific research institutions, and industry-leading companies from all over the country in the field of composite materials were close to 400 people attended the meeting. At the meeting, the marine composite propeller project developed by WHGW Carbon Fiber Technology Group won the first prize of the 2020 National Composite Material Technology Innovation Award in the field of transportation.

Low noise and quiet operation is a core technology of advanced ships and a key indicator of the performance of ships (especially submarines). Carbon fiber composite propellers are not only lighter and thinner, but can also improve cavitation performance, reduce vibration, and reduce fuel consumption. At present, research on composite propellers for ships is still in its infancy in China.

WHGW has developed an advanced epoxy resin matrix for propellers through the formulation research of the epoxy resin system for ship propellers and the research of the propeller molding process, combined with the mixed layer design of the propeller and the structure design of the propeller body, and explored suitable for small and large propellers. Under the premise of satisfying the application of ship propellers, the produced carbon fiber composite materials have excellent performance.
