Chinese companies successfully jointly developed magnesium oxide for low-temperature oriented silicon steel Hay:F05SHBG

The last key "bottleneck" restricting SHBG's high-end oriented silicon steel products has been opened.

Recently, the magnesium oxide developed by SHBG in cooperation with China's leading magnesium oxide manufacturing company has been successfully applied to 0.23mm thin gauge high-grade low-temperature oriented silicon steel, and its comprehensive index is better than the international highest-grade products. This also marks SHBG's cracking of the "stuck neck" technology. , Broke the foreign monopoly, and achieved a major breakthrough in domestic magnesium oxide preparation technology.

Oriented silicon steel is the most difficult variety of steel products to manufacture. It is known as the "jewel in the crown" of steel products. The ability to produce oriented silicon steel is an important indicator of the manufacturing technology level of a country and a steel company.

From 2008, SHBG successfully independently developed and industrialized low-temperature and high-magnetic-inductance oriented silicon steel representing the highest level of technology in the world steel industry, to the world's first launch of new products of extremely low iron loss oriented silicon steel in 2019.

Magnesium oxide is a key raw material in the coating of oriented silicon steel. It mainly acts as a release agent to prevent the strip from sticking during the high-temperature annealing stage. At the same time, it also reacts with the silicon dioxide on the surface of the silicon steel to form an excellent magnesium silicate insulating underlayer. The industrialization of oriented silicon steel products depends to a large extent on the breakthrough of the underlying formation technology. Among them, the role of magnesium oxide is very important, which determines the product quality, yield rate and cost competitiveness. The thin-gauge, high-grade, low-temperature oriented silicon steel bottom layer is the most difficult to form, and the requirements for magnesium oxide are also the highest.

Up to now, SHBG oriented silicon steel has covered all series of oriented silicon steel commercial products in the world today, realizing the comprehensive leadership in research and development and manufacturing technology of oriented silicon steel. However, the magnesium oxide required for SHBG thin-gauge high-grade low-temperature oriented silicon steel has long relied on imports, which is not only expensive, but also the stability of key indicators cannot be effectively solved. Magnesium oxide has thus become the only problem that has not been properly resolved in the production of SHBG thin-gauge, high-grade, low-temperature oriented silicon steel.

As early as 2013, SHBG began to explore and solve the problem of localized substitution of magnesium oxide. After years of technical accumulation, in 2017, SHBG Silicon Steel Research Institute decided to cooperate with Chinese magnesium oxide technology companies to develop special magnesium oxide for thin-gauge low-temperature oriented silicon steel.
