In the process of product development, the engineering structural steel R&D team of the Plate Technology Research Institute used nearly 3 years to closely focus on the current LNBG's existing high-strength structural steel practice, collect a large amount of customer application information, and formulate specific characteristics for the use of steel A detailed composition and process design research and development program. After a large amount of data research day and night, hundreds of experimental simulations, inspection and analysis of more than 2,000 samples, the development of the laboratory and the determination of the process parameters of the industrial trial production were finally completed. At the same time, the non-quenched and tempered ultra-high-strength structural steel was successfully rolled at one time on the 2300 production line of the plate hot strip mill, with a yield strength of 1100MPa, a tensile strength of 1200MPa, and good low-temperature impact toughness and cold-formability. At the same time, the non-quenched and tempered ultra-high-strength structural steel adopts low-cost composition design and no quenching and tempering process, which greatly reduces production costs and further enhances the market competitiveness of products.

At present, two steel plates with thicknesses of 4.5mm and 6.5mm produced by LNBG have been trial-produced by different automobile manufacturers, with good results. Among them, the German automobile factory used the steel plate to make the bottom beam of the trailer, instead of the 700MPa grade high-strength steel it originally used, and the weight of the whole vehicle was reduced by 300 kg; the Chinese heavy-duty truck manufacturer used the material to make the dump truck body to reduce the overall weight by about 40%. While achieving light weight, the load capacity of this model is increased, and the service life of the vehicle is prolonged.

In addition, in the review of the 2020 Metallurgical Science and Technology Award, the project "Development and Application of 1200MPa Non-quenched and Tempered High-strength Structural Steel for Commercial Vehicles" declared based on this steel grade won the third prize of the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award.
