Chinese researchers have made progress in the research of titanium alloy high-temperature protective coatings

Recently, the international top journal Corrosion Science of material corrosion published an academic paper "The effect of Nb and Si on the hot corrosion behaviors of TiAl coatings on a Ti-6Al-4V alloy", which explains the high temperature protective coating of titanium alloy in The damage mechanism under high temperature-corrosion coupling and the synergistic mechanism of multi-alloy elements. Dr. Dai Jingjie, the doctor of Qingdao Binhai University, is the first author and corresponding author. This article marks the new progress in the research of titanium alloy high-temperature protective coatings.

According to reports, because of its light weight, high strength and excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures, titanium alloys are the material of choice for high thrust-to-weight ratio compressor blades for advanced aeroengines. However, titanium alloys have poor resistance to high-temperature oxidation and thermal corrosion. In a high-temperature oxidation environment, titanium alloy compressor blades will inevitably fail due to severe high-temperature oxidation and thermal corrosion, reducing engine efficiency and causing serious accidents. Dr. Dai Jingjie's team designed a series of high-temperature protective coatings on the surface of titanium alloy, and studied the cyclic high-temperature oxidation behavior of the coating at 800 degrees Celsius for 1000 hours and the thermal corrosion behavior at 800 degrees Celsius for 300 hours. The damage model under the action of oxidation and thermal corrosion clarifies the damage mechanism of the coating under the coupling effect of high temperature and corrosion and the synergetic mechanism of multi-alloy elements.

Dai Jingjie is an academic leader in the research direction of material surface engineering of the "New Metal Functional Materials Research Team" of Qingdao Binhai College, a superior discipline team of Shandong colleges and universities. In recent years, the team has conducted fruitful research on the design and preparation of wear-resistant corrosion and high-temperature protective coatings in the field of aviation titanium alloys, and the research results have been published in "Corrosion Science", "Journal of Materials Processing Technology", "Journal of Alloys and Compounds" "Surface & Coatings Technology" and many other well-known international journals on corrosion and materials have attracted the attention of domestic and foreign counterparts.
