Coca-Cola bottled water brand DANSANI to launch hybrid rPET bottle for the first time

American water brand DANSANI will launch a 20-ounce bottle package made of up to 50% plant-based renewable and recyclable PET materials. The Coca-Cola company will launch the "hybrid" bottle in mid-2020.

The announcement follows Dasani's announcement of a series of sustainable packaging initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste and increasing the use of recyclable and renewable materials in the United States.

In addition to introducing mixed bottles, Dasani plans to expand its unpackaged PureFill water dispenser. With the success of the Coca-Cola freestyle platform, starting in fall 2019, up to 100 PureFill dispenser units will be added nationwide.

At the same time, Dasani will continue its lightweighting process for the entire company's packaging portfolio. Starting this fall, the "How2Recycle" educational label will appear on all packaging for the brand.

Dasani Brand Director Lauren King said, "The action taken today is the largest sustainability initiative in the history of the Dasani brand. It is rooted in providing sustainable choices for our consumers, while redouble our efforts to make our environment To minimize the impact of our commitments. "

King added: "While there is no single solution to the plastic waste problem, the additional packaging and unpackaged options we are launching represent a significant next step in our efforts to provide more sustainable solutions at scale.

Dashani created the first fully recyclable bottle made in part in 2009. Sneha Shah, Coca-Cola North America ’s Packaging Innovation Director, explains: “Designing our packaging to reduce the amount of raw materials used and adding recycling and renewable content to our bottles helps to promote the circular economy, which is how we run our business the right way. An important part of commitment. "

In 2018, The Coca-Cola Company announced its "Wasteless World" initiative. The beverage giant's goals include increasing the amount of recyclable materials used in its products to an average of 50% by 2030; and making all its packaging recyclable by 2025.
