Colorite, a subsidiary of biomedical grade packaging and piping materials manufacturer Tekni-Plex, extends the durability grades of its Cellene® thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds

Colorite, a Tekni-Plex business, will discuss its Cellene® thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds at MD & M West, Anaheim Convention Center (Booth 1832), Anaheim, California, February 5-7 Extension.

The company is adding 12 grades to its previously offered 28Cellene® TPE healthcare formula and various other applications.

"Changes in regulations and market conditions are prompting medical device manufacturers to seek solutions through other materials. The Cellene® TPE compound production line is for medical device manufacturers and others looking for alternatives to PVC, phthalate plasticizers, and various rubber materials "It's ideal," said Heath Schmid, Colorite's director of business development. "Line extensions will help shorten development cycles and provide manufacturers with more choices to obtain the hardness levels required for their applications."

Cellene® TPE compounds are available in four series: 1000 (extrusion grade for high-definition intravenous therapy, improved adhesion and kink resistance); 2000 (injection molding and extrusion for cost-driven intravenous therapy solutions Out-of-grade); 3000 (for injection molding and extrusion grades for general healthcare, food service, bottle caps, liners, gaskets / seals, syringe stoppers); and 4000 (injection molding grades for high-definition applications, such as Drip irrigation room).

The compound is made from FDA-compliant materials and is silicone-free, latex-free, phthalate-free, halogen-free, and polyvinyl chloride-compliant to meet USP Class 6 and ISO 10993 standards.
