Covestro will showcase innovative medical technology at the CompamedMedica (International Medical Device and Equipment Exhibition / International Medical Manufacturing Accessories, Parts and Raw Materials Exhibition) Trade Show in Dusseldorf from November 12th to 15th. Total solution for wound care
Covestro provides comprehensive material solutions for all layers of modern wound dressings. Baymedix® A series polyurethane adhesive components have excellent breathability, which is an important prerequisite for moisture management in advanced wound dressings. The adhesive system can also be easily removed from the skin without sticking to the hair (low trauma).
Covestro Baymedix® FP also provides polyurethane raw materials for foams with excellent absorption and retention properties. By directly coating the carrier film with an adhesive system or foam, process and lamination steps can also be saved in production, which improves efficiency. The special thermoplastic polyurethane film (TPU) of the Platilon® series has a special cushion surface.
Seamless film for medical gloves
The Baymedix®CD series of waterborne polyurethane dispersions have been specially developed for latex-free, highly elastic films. Its excellent mechanical stability makes it a premium raw material for seamless medical gloves. This film can be produced either in a dipping process or in an efficient roll-to-roll production process.
Improving wearing comfort with skin-friendly wearables
Wearable electronic patch devices have been used in a variety of medical applications, including monitoring, diagnostics, and drug delivery. This device allows the patient to move more freely. Wearable devices must be worn on the skin for a long time, so they need to be particularly skin-friendly and must be comfortable, but also firmly attached to the skin. In addition, Covestro has developed a special breathable TPU film of the Platilon® series for this purpose.
The company also provides process support to customers in the manufacturing sector, enabling wearable devices to be produced efficiently through a roll-to-roll process. The electronic module is fixed to the carrier film in one step and embedded in a thermoformable polyurethane foam, which is in turn fed onto a second film. The patch is then fixed with a special skin-friendly adhesive. The adhesive system and thermoformable foam are based on Baymedix® polyurethane raw materials. With this product, Covestro provides a complete solution for modern high-quality wearable patch devices.
