Daimler significantly increases power battery capacity

On July 25th local time, Daimler said it will increase battery manufacturing at its plants in Sindelfingen and Untertuerkheim as the company attempts to shift from petrol to electric vehicles. ability.

Daimler said the increase in battery capacity is part of a 1.5 billion euro ($ 1.75 billion) retrofit plan aimed at transforming Mercedes-Benz plants to produce zero-emission and autonomous vehicles. Frank Deiss, head of powertrain production at Mercedes-Benz, said, "As battery capacity increases, we are transforming the traditional Teturheim plant into a high-tech plant producing electric vehicle components."

With the reorganization of German domestic plants, Mercedes-Benz will have eight battery plants. Daimler already produces batteries in Kamenz, Germany, and is building more battery factories in Beijing, Bangkok, Tuscaloosa and Alabama.

Earlier reports said that Daimler Group will invest 500 million euros (about 589 million US dollars) in the plant in Ambach, France, to produce a compact Mercedes-Benz electric car. In order to better cope with the increasingly fierce market competition, Daimler plans to produce more than 10 electric models for Mercedes-Benz by 2022.

Daimler said its Sindelfingen plant will be the center for mass production of autonomous and electric vehicles. The Sindelfingen plant currently produces Mercedes-Benz S-Class cars.
