Equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery, BYD Enviro400EV electric double-decker bus delivered to London

BYD and British bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis (ADL) announced that the first-ever pure electric double-decker bus Enviro400EV jointly built by the two parties was officially delivered to Metroline's operator Metroline and started operation this week. This is the first large-scale pure electric double-decker bus order in London jointly won by BYD and ADL in 2018, totaling 37 units.

The first batch of five fully electric double-decker buses will serve London's busy 43 bus line between London Bridge in central London and the Friern Barnet area in the northern suburbs. The total length of the line is 9 miles.

Adrian Jones, Metroline's director of engineering, said, "The first batch of purely electric double-decker buses in operation will be of great benefit to Metroline and London. It will also help London to make a milestone in the electrification of London buses. We cooperate with BYD and ADL engineers. Learning from past operating experience, we finally designed a pure electric double-decker bus that perfectly fits London. "

The new Enviro400EV new model carries BYD's inherent outstanding genes, including BYD's world-leading technology for manufacturing pure electric buses and lithium iron phosphate battery technology, while condensing ADL's lightweight body design.

Enviro400EV is 10.9 meters long, with a new chassis and an all-aluminum body shape. The vehicle is driven by an all-electric drivetrain. Its BYD's next-generation lithium iron phosphate battery has a capacity of 382 kWh and a range of 160 miles. Thanks to BYD's innovative wheel motor technology and industry-leading battery thermal management system, the vehicle has the characteristics of high and low temperature resistance, high temperature resistance, long life, and high safety. It is understood that this new all-electric double-decker bus was assembled by ADL's Scarborough plant in Yorkshire, UK, with core components provided by BYD.

The new pure electric double-decker bus is tailor-made for the operator. The vehicle has a total of 67 seats, including 24 on the first floor and 43 on the second floor. It adopts a unique interior and exterior decoration shape and follows the unique traditional design element "London Red". Integrating the beauty of ADL's modern body decoration, while strictly complying with the high standards of the operator, and equipped with unique human settings, including a spacious wheelchair area and a back door wheelchair automatically getting on and off the ramp.

He Yipeng, general manager of BYD Europe Co., Ltd. said, "I'm very happy that BYD and ADL launched the first commercial pure electric double-decker bus for London. This is the best footnote for BYD's" British Story "and also the management of BYD and local buses. An excellent example of cooperation between the bureau and enterprises. The red double-decker bus is a symbol of London culture, and the Enviro400EV continues the soul of the London double-decker bus. Zero-emission buses are pollution-free and easy to operate, which is undoubtedly a good thing for Metroline and London citizens. Message. "

Colin Robertson, CEO of ADL, also said, "Since 2015, the cooperation between ADL and BYD has continued to deepen. The best-selling model Enviro200EV has accumulated more than two million operating miles. The cooperation between the two parties will continue after the launch of Enviro400EV. I also firmly believe that this model will continue to be the 'king of the road' in London, creating electric buses that meet the needs of operators and passengers, and contribute to improving air quality.
