Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene: ECTFE-High-performance semi-crystalline fluoropolymers production process

In engineering applications, ECTFE does not need to add additives containing anti-ultraviolet, heat-resistant stabilizers, plasticizers, lubricants or flame retardants, and has outstanding impact resistance. It is a tough material with considerable mechanical strength. .

Ethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer (ECTFE) is an important fluorine-containing copolymer, which is alternately copolymerized with ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene at a molar ratio of 1:1. The preparation methods of ECTFE mainly include suspension copolymerization, emulsion copolymerization, solution polymerization and microemulsion polymerization. The main method of producing ECTFE is emulsion copolymerization, which is currently the most commonly used method.

Suspension copolymerization method: Suspension copolymerization was first used in the commercial production of ECTFE. Using ammonium perfluorooctanoate as emulsifier, persulfuric acid and ammonium as initiators, and borax as pH buffering agent for emulsion copolymerization, ECTFE was obtained under the optimal reaction conditions of initial reaction temperature of 40-45 degrees, reaction time of 12h, stirring speed of 500r/min, The product has excellent performance and is suitable for thin film coating.

Emulsion copolymerization: is currently the most commonly used method. It is prepared by the emulsion copolymerization reaction of ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene under the self-emulsification of the back end group initiated by the azoamidine dihydrochloride initiator. The effect on the product performance has resulted in the optimal dosage of the initiator.

Solution polymerization: Using Freon and water as the reaction medium, organic peroxide as the initiator, by optimizing the monomer ratio and solvent ratio of the polymerization reaction, the ECTFE resin is polymerized at a certain temperature and pressure, which reduces the reaction cost. , And will not cause environmental pollution, the product performance is excellent, comparable to similar foreign products.

ECTFE has excellent corrosion resistance, extremely low permeability and excellent electrical properties, and the surface is extremely smooth, suitable for manufacturing safe-use products, and is allowed to be used in the food and drinking water fields. ECTFE has extraordinary corrosion resistance to most inorganic and organic chemicals and organic solvents. Until now, no substance can corrode ECTFE or cause cracks below 120 degrees Celsius. In engineering applications, ECTFE does not need to add additives containing anti-ultraviolet, heat-resistant stabilizers, plasticizers, lubricants or flame retardants, and has outstanding impact resistance. It is a tough material with considerable mechanical strength. . For devices and pipelines used in the petrochemical field, ECTFE is a more suitable material for sheet lining, such as pumps, valves, containers, storage tanks, and pipe fittings.
