Evonik Industries announced on November 21 that in response to the growing demand for lightweight materials in special applications, it decided to expand the production capacity of its rigid foam product ROHACELL® at its Mobile plant in Alabama, USA. This PMI (polymethacrylimide) composite material is extremely light in texture and is a popular choice in terminal fields such as aviation, automobiles, ships, and electronics.
According to the plan, Evonik will invest in the construction of a new production plant and support the corresponding logistics and logistics. The expansion will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2020.
"This expansion will further consolidate Evonik's position as the world's leading PMI rigid foam supply and meet the long-term needs of the North American market," said Christina Walkosak, director of Evonik Industrial Americas' high-performance polymer products.
In 2008, Evonik Industries crossed the Atlantic Ocean and came to Alabama to establish the first high-temperature rigid foam ROHACELL® production line.
"In recent years, we are pleased to see that many industries have generated huge demand for high-performance foam materials, especially the aerospace market and the electronics market. Because of this, we decided to implement this expansion plan." Walkosak said . Two years ago, Evonik Industries had just expanded its production capacity in Germany by 20%.
