Philippe Knaub, senior vice president and chief technology officer of FXI foam supplier FXI, joins the Flexible Foam Polyurethane Alliance (AFPF), a non-profit organization that manages CertiPUR-US® certification programs.
Knaub was previously global head of emulsion polymer development at Trinseo (a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company) based in Horgen, Switzerland, where he has worked for more than 20 years. His positions at Dow include global R & D director, project manager and global marketing manager.
Knaub has an international reputation in the field of polyurethanes and plastics, has been nominated in a number of patents, and published in many professional publications and textbooks.
Knaub joins the board of directors as the certipur US® project celebrates its 11th year. The project demonstrates that flexible polyurethane foam analyzed by an independent, accredited testing laboratory meets emissions, durability, and content requirements based on project standards.
Nearly 60 block and molded foam producers are currently certifying flexible polyurethane foam, with more than 1,000 bedding and upholstery furniture manufacturers and retailers participating in the project.
