Global advanced fabric company Low & Bonar has signed a license agreement with thermoplastic cellular technology expert EconCore to use its cellular technology. After a lot of work, Low & Bonar launched a new floor liner product.

Low & Bonar's floor liner products use EconCore's cellular technology in a novel and innovative way. This product called Colcore Sonic will change the flooring market with its powerful, soundproof and lightweight performance.

Colcore uses EconCore's continuous, high-volume production process to produce lightweight thermoplastic honeycomb sandwich panels. The combination of EconCore ’s production technology and Low & Bonar ’s expertise in functional materials has led to the development of Colcore, which combines strength and acoustic performance.

Floor mat products can be delivered by curling instead of rigid panels. The new product concept was developed in 2018, after a series of tests, learning and further optimization. Passed relevant industry identification tests to prove that the product meets and exceeds industry standards.

Colcore Sonic is lightweight and thin, but has high compression strength. It has good sound insulation and excellent leveling. The new products are delivered in rolls and are also very easy to handle, store and install.

It is the first cushion to provide excellent effective sound insulation and leveling capabilities in a single product. It can be used for various types of hard floors, such as vinyl click systems, flexible vinyl, laminate, hardwood and ceramic floors.

Low & Bonar`s new technology manager Joo Bovenschen said quickly: “Even with the latest generation of leveling compound, it is time-consuming to prepare the sub-floor before installing vinyl gusset flooring. Unfolding, cutting and positioning this high performance bushing system only A few minutes without having to spend hours or days to smooth uneven surfaces. "

Independent testing also found that Colcore reduced the impact sound by 20 dB and the airborne sound transmission was 57 dB, both of which were defined as the noise perceived in the room below. Radiated walking sound, defined as walking noise in the same room, registered as 56.4 Sone (loudness unit), is considered a comfortable sound level. The results show that the product is suitable for commercial and residential building floors.

Tomasz Czarnecki, Chief Operating Officer of EconCore, said: "This license agreement and the subsequent successful product development are the result of the in-depth work and good partnership between EconCore and Low & Bonar. We will produce and material technologies, know-how and dedication Combining. This is an exciting time. Low & Bonar's hard work at the Domotex exhibition is now providing a highly innovative flooring product. "

Czarnecki added: "With the versatility of EconCore technology and the skills, driving force and market knowledge of the Low & Bonar team, we firmly believe that it is only a matter of time before Low & Bonar launches another breakthrough cellular product."
