DEWL components for better electric motors and higher-efficiency batteries. The challenge to optimise the key element battery for electromobility provided the idea of enhancing the efficiency of all components – from the rotor to the wiring to the drivetrain. Copper rotors
The DEWL copper rotor design for induction motors is a patented layout that can withstand rotary speeds considerably higher than the alternative solutions. Thanks to the high conductivity of copper, the rotor attains an efficiency higher than aluminium and is designed for mass production.
Rotor bars
DEWL can offer you ready-to-install rotor bars of the unvaryingly highest quality combined with maximum cost efficiency. This is safeguarded by our fully automated processes over the whole value creation stream – from development to production – from the smallest sample lot to mass production .
Wiring
Contacting your stator windings in the tightest of spaces – Together with you, we develop individual solutions for wiring your electrical machinery and produce these from the prototype to the series product. This also extends to hairpin windings that increase both the copper fill factor in the stator and the efficiency of the electrical machinery in EV and EHV drives.
Battery components
Shunts
Precision shunt resistors are highly important for the precise, reliable measurement of actual battery levels, first making possible better battery management. Shunt resistors are based on electron beam welded copper-manganese strip. This allows high precision measurements over a wide temperature range and provides the connection to the power electronics of the stator in the drivetrain.
Special bimetals
Special bimetals constitute an additional contribution towards improved battery design and are used as so called busbars between the anode and cathode. Laser deposit welding is a method developed specially for combining the properties of different metals into a composite with excellent contact bond strength. This method introduces high degrees of freedom to flexibility and dimensioning.
Copper Alloy Rods and sectional rods
The right alloy, geometry, and strength – precise and efficient: Rods and profiled rods from DEWL are used in a wide range of applications, extending over forged sanitary fittings, lock cylinders, and turned parts for machine construction. You can choose from a virtually unlimited number of sizes and geometries.
DEWL manufactures round, hexagon, and profiled rods of the most common copper alloys such as brass, German silver, and bronze, as well as copper itself. Special alloys tailored to your specific application are recommended by our Applications Advice experts.
Slide bearings
DEWL slide bearings serve numerous applications and can be found in technically sophisticated combustion engines as piston and connecting rod bushings or rocker arm pins. DEWL slide bearings are also used in bearings for modern axle and brake systems, transmissions, differentials and hydraulic pumps, as well as in oscillating elements such as booms or gripper systems on construction and agricultural machinery.
