Hexcel releases new fast curing HexBond 679 adhesive film to meet the low temperature curing requirements of marine and industrial applications

Hexcel (Stanford, Connecticut, USA) has launched a new low temperature, fast curing HexBond 679 adhesive film.

Hexcel said that HexBond 679 has strong adhesive properties in the sandwich structure, and greatly shortens the cycle time due to its short curing cycle at low temperature. HexBond 679 is specially formulated to meet the low temperature curing requirements of marine and industrial applications. It is an epoxy adhesive film supporting 250 gsm and is fully compatible with the HexPly M79 prepreg series. Allegedly, HexBond 679 film is cured at 80˚C / 176˚F for four hours or at 70˚C / 158˚F for eight hours. And the shelf life is up to 6 times. One week at 23 ° C.

Hexcel said that HexPly M79 prepreg and HexBond 679 adhesive film enable shipyards to increase construction speed by reducing heating and cooling time. When combined with Hexcel's exhaust grid technology HexPly M79, regardless of the thickness of the laminate, UD ribbons can be laminated through a reduced thinning step to produce a porosity of less than 1%.

As part of Hexcel's latest certification program, HexBond 679 adhesive film has also received DNV-GL type approval, thereby providing ship manufacturers with additional independent guarantees for product quality, performance and consistency.
