Hexion Automotive Composites and Fraunhofer reach agreement to develop lightweight composites for vehicles

Hexion Automotive Composites and the Fraunhofer Project Center have reached a new three-year agreement to continue to jointly develop lightweight composite technology and high-performance systems to meet the needs of automotive mass production. The use of new composite technologies can help replace steel and other heavier materials to achieve lightweight vehicles.

Hexion is the world's leading manufacturer and center of thermosetting resins, and has been working with automakers since 2013 to develop high-performance materials and processing technologies that enable them to manufacture light-weight, high-strength parts, reduce overall vehicles, and improve gas Mileage and performance. This collaboration has been successful in commercial applications of composite materials.

"This new agreement allows us to continue to work with the center to support application development using large-scale composite manufacturing technologies. As automakers seek to reduce vehicle weight and use new composite materials," said Stephen, Hexion Automotive Application Development and Technical Support Manager. Technology replacing steel and other heavier materials is becoming increasingly important for automotive design and production. "

The Fraunhofer Association is a publicly-funded, non-profit, and non-profit scientific research institution that develops new technologies, new products, and new technologies for enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises. It also helps companies solve organizational and management problems in their own innovation and development. It is an important force for the development of science and technology in the country. It actively participates in the development of science and technology in the European Union. It is commissioned by the German states and the federal government to carry out a series of strategic research in the areas of environmental protection, energy and health, which are of great significance to social development.

The Fraunhofer Project Center is able to work with major car manufacturers to test the full production of materials and production components. Hexion engineers are dedicated to helping automakers develop, test and integrate the latest technologies and materials into their new cars. A network of prototyping experts, tool makers, and testing companies also works with Hexion in this work. In cooperation with the Fraunhofer Project Center, Hexion has perfected applications for the rapid production of large-scale heat-resistant enclosures within a cycle.
