Huntsman Textile Dyeing and Chemours have agreed to expand their long-term strategic cooperation in the field of durable waterproofing (DWR)

Huntsman Textile Effects and Chemours have agreed to expand their long-term strategic cooperation in the area of durable waterproofing (DWR). By combining the two companies' strengths in innovation, technical support, and marketing, the expanded collaboration unleashes the full potential of the alliance to develop and deliver new, sustainable DWR solutions and chemistry.

This historic alliance established in the early 1990s has been at the forefront of providing the most advanced and durable waterproofing solutions for the textile industry. In addition to fluorinated solutions, the expanded alliance will now also be able to provide fluorine-free alternatives. The alliance will cover different aspects of the value chain, including research, marketing, technical support and manufacturing.

Jay Naidu, vice president of strategic marketing and planning for Huntsman Textiles Ltd., said: "Strengthening the relationship between Huntsman Textile Effects and Chemours to leverage the two companies' capabilities in sustainable and durable waterproof technology and product supply Potential. Our cooperation has stood the test of time and has clearly demonstrated that strong environmental certifications and performance can coexist equally. We are excited to move forward with the wider alliance as we strengthen our role as DWR Textile solutions industry leader. "

"Chemours is pleased to expand its partnership with Huntsman Textile Effects. This partnership strengthens our leadership in innovation and the development of more sustainable and high-performance products that meet the needs of the textile industry and the use of these products. Consumer demand is growing rapidly, "said Sa ID Jesal Chopra, vice president of Chemours fluoropolymers.

Huntsman Textile Effects and Chemours are working together to lead the textile industry's transition from long-chain waterproof products to more environmentally friendly short-chain chemistry and more recently, fluorine-free chemistry. This collaboration has resulted in new, market-leading DWR solutions that provide performance and sustainability.

Chemours introduced Teflon EcoElite ™ and Zelan R3 technology in 2015, a fluorine-free, water-repellent coating from renewable sources. Zelan R3 repellent contains 60% plant-based materials and meets all key industry standards. It maintains fabric breathability while maintaining excellent water resistance and durability. It meets or exceeds the possible performance levels of fluorination technology. Teflon Eco-Drying and Zelan R2 PLUS technology have been recently introduced. These two technologies are complementary to Teflon EcoElite ™. Zelan R2 PLUS contains 30% renewable raw materials from plants, focusing on providing a high level of durable water resistance to all substrates.

In 2017, Huntsman Textile Effects introduced the PHOBOTEX RSY fluorine-free durable water repellent, which was specially developed to meet the extreme protection, comfort and durability requirements of synthetic and cellulose fibers, providing the brand with an enhanced environmental image .

PHOBOTEX RSY durable waterproofing agent raises the performance standards of synthetic materials, enabling the brand to provide high-performance weather protection and ensure environmental sustainability. Providing effective protection and breathable comfort in extreme environments, PHOBOTEX RSY durable waterproofing agent can resist rain, sleet and snow, making it an ideal choice for high-performance jacket fabrics.

Both companies bring a rich and mature tradition centered on research and innovation. Through its expanded alliance, joint research and development work in DWR enables Huntsman and Chemours to stay at the forefront of industry trends and regulatory changes, thereby enabling a more sustainable textile industry.
