On June 11, 2020, Tianjin, the world's leading specialty chemicals company Huntsman Group held a flag-raising ceremony for its polyurethane composite plant in Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone, and announced that Huntsman Polyurethane Tianjin Composite Plant was completed and put into operation . This marks that Huntsman, a milestone project with a north layout and deepened commitment, will officially enter the trial production stage. Since the registration of the first foreign-funded technical service center in the polyurethane field in Shanghai in 1992 and the establishment of the Asia-Pacific regional headquarters in Shanghai in 2019, Huntsman has invested 15 billion yuan in China. The newly built compound material factory named "Huntsman Composites (Tianjin) Co., Ltd." has a total investment of 230 million yuan. It has successfully opened all production processes and successfully produced the first batch of polyurethane products. It is expected that the annual production capacity of the Tianjin plant will reach 70,000 tons after it is officially put into production.
Huntsman Polyurethanes Tianjin Combined Materials Plant uses the Group’s green product Terol® polyester polyol as a raw material to produce polyurethane products. Terol® polyester polyol is a high-quality, environmentally friendly, high-performance product innovatively developed by Huntsman. Up to 60% of its ingredients come from recycled PET materials. It is estimated that Huntsman can consume approximately 1.44 billion 500 ml PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles annually worldwide. A few days ago, Huntsman Group’s new polyester polyol plant was completed, and its full production capacity will reach 22,000 tons per year. This also ensures that the Huntsman Tianjin plant can continue to supply high-quality and environmentally friendly Terol® polyester polyol raw materials. It is particularly worth mentioning that, unlike traditional and simple production methods, Huntsman started from the front-end equipment investment and process technology to perform secondary processing on recycled plastic raw materials. The addition of two processing processes, chemical alcoholysis and physical filtration, plus precise control of the intermediate production process, and professional quality testing of back-end products, while ensuring the stability of the product of Terol® polyester polyol, further help Customers improve production efficiency. Not only that, the addition of Terol® polyester polyol to the formulation can significantly improve the fire resistance and thermal insulation performance of polyurethane foam products, thereby enhancing safety and reducing energy consumption. Huntsman has developed more than 20 Terol ® polyester polyol products, 7 of which have been certified by the international authoritative certification agency Underwriter Laboratories Enviornment (a subsidiary of UL) for green and environmentally friendly product attributes. Huntsman is the first polyester polyol manufacturer to obtain this certification.

In the production process, abide by the relevant provisions of the "Montreal Protocol" and use cyclopentane-type blowing agents that do not damage the ozone layer. As a blowing agent of rigid polyurethane foam, cyclopentane has zero ozone depletion value (ODP value) ① and atmospheric warming value (GWP value) ②, which is absolutely absolute pollution from the source. In addition, cyclopentane is flammable and explosive, and the country has strict requirements for its storage and use.
