Hyundai Steel and ArcelorMittal sign a hot-formed steel patent license agreement

Hyundai Steel has signed a patent license agreement with ArcelorMittal on hot forming steel and its coating technology.

Pieces. Due to the outstanding cost and material advantages, the application of hot-formed steel shows a rapid development trend, and the application continues to move from high-end cars to low-end cars. At present, the global demand for hot forming steel has exceeded 3 million tons.

ArcelorMittal is the only steel company in the world that provides a full range of aluminum-silicon coated hot-formed steel, and Valin ArcelorMittal is the only one in China. With this patent license, Hyundai Steel can accelerate the production and sales of hot-formed steel in South Korea, China, and ASEAN countries.

Hyundai Steel currently has the largest hot stamping and forming base in Korea, with 22 production lines in Yesan and Chungcheongnam-do, and 2 production lines in Ulsan, both of which use hot stamping processes to produce automotive parts. In addition to investing in two hot stamping production lines in the Czech subsidiary at the end of this year, Hyundai Steel has further expansion plans.
