The low-load model of the cylinder crankcase designed as a two-liter engine is manufactured by die-casting, and the manufacturing process used for another more powerful engine group is low-pressure casting. In this manufacturing process, inorganic The synthetic core is cast, and special cooling technology is used, which can ensure the overall geometry of the component on the one hand, and meet the high mechanical requirements and prescribed parameters on the other. Two product orders have already begun production in the fall of 2018, and the production plan will continue until 2027.
Production site using special process technology
The crankcase cylinder mirrors of the two engines are attached with a special coating by the OEM. With this coating, the products show advantages in friction performance and the subsequent energy consumption and emissions. Rheinmetall AG has already received additional orders from automakers for multiple parts of this engine series in 2017. The total order of more than 390 million euros also includes the latest generations of components such as steel pistons, cylinder crankcases, plain bearings and electric start converters. All parts are integrated to help this advanced drive system series achieve the goal of reducing energy consumption and emissions.
