LANXESS says its short glass fiber-reinforced Durethan polyamide material is suitable for use in drones.
At the Chinaplas 2018, LANXESS 'High Performance Materials (HPM) business unit demonstrated a range of high-end material solutions, including drone propellers made of short glass fiber reinforced Durethan (polyamide 6). Thanks to its balanced material properties, injection-molded parts are lighter and have good strength and rigidity. The material is resistant to UV aging, making it ideal for outdoor use. As a result, drone propellers made of LANXESS plastic are convincing due to their good appearance and durability.
In addition to wings and propellers, these high-performance plastics can also be used in unmanned fuselage and landing gear. These materials help reduce the weight of the aircraft, thereby extending flight time and reducing vibration and noise. More importantly, these materials improve the impact resistance, reduce the interference of metal materials on radio signals, simplify the production process, and increase the flexibility of product structure design.
Dr. Axel Tuchlenski, Head of Global Product and Application Development, LANXESS Performance Materials, said: "Given the rapid development of the high-tech industry and the growing popularity of electric drives, we believe that the use of our products has significant additional potential. Based on our PA6, PA66 and PBT products, we have developed innovative solutions to meet customer demand for high-quality products. "
