Magneti Marelli to bring third-generation Smart Corner automotive lighting solutions to CES 2019

Magneti Marelli will participate in the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2019 and will showcase its latest technology. Marelli is committed to meeting the needs of autonomous driving and connected cars with intelligent, streamlined and highly integrated lighting and electronics solutions. Marelli's technology improves communication and safety for vehicles, passengers and the surrounding environment.

Smart Corner-award-winning innovative lighting for autonomous driving

Marelli will launch its third-generation Smart Corner lighting technology at the CES 2019. This technology integrates autonomous driving sensors into vehicle headlights and taillights, providing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with the features they need for autonomous driving, while ensuring aesthetic appeal and world-class lighting performance. In addition, it can integrate any type of sensor selected by OEMs, including lidar, radar, camera, ultrasound, and advanced LED lighting functions such as adaptive high beam system (ADB) and digital light processing (DLP). Smart Corner lighting technology provides 360-degree panoramic views around the vehicle and has redundant features. Because the sensors are integrated into existing headlights and taillights, OEMs can benefit from a fully calibrated, plug-and-play solution that simplifies production processes and is less expensive and weighs more than alternative products light.

Seamlessly integrated car networking technology

Inspired by Smart Corner's modular design, Marelli will also showcase seamlessly integrated networking capabilities on test cars. The technologies involved include active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) displays embedded in the front grille and rear to communicate intentions, automatically send signals, interact with virtual assistants, sound alerts, and notify locations with V2X.

Powerful driver monitoring and perception technology

Visitors can see how Marelli integrates cameras, sensors and perception software to provide driver monitoring. The key features of Marelli's solution are that it requires almost no computing power and works without complex hardware. Once the user's state and emotions are determined, the digital interface with human-machine interface will dynamically adapt to the automotive environment.

Comprehensive human-machine interface

Marelli will seamlessly integrate multiple displays, controls and feedback devices to provide the driver with the information he needs. The company's latest display technology enhances perception, depth, and reality without using valuable dashboard space.

Use lights as a tool for perception and communication

Relying on the innovations in advanced lighting solutions for hundreds of years, Marais first introduced the world's first 1.3-megapixel mass production headlight DLP. DPL creates ideal lighting conditions and projects images onto the road to communicate with drivers and pedestrians.

Advanced Lighting Solutions

Visitors can also see Marelli's various ADB modules, which expand the field of vision for safer and more comfortable driving. ADB-equipped headlights can operate in high beam mode almost 100% of the time to provide maximum light output. Marelli's latest generation of laser headlights combines laser and LED light sources with a high beam coverage of over 600 meters.
