MAHLE launches high-performance motors, making electric cars more economical

For end consumers, longer driving range and lower use costs are the main reference factors for selecting new energy vehicles. This requires manufacturers to increase power density and efficiency in driving, and provide more flexible design solutions. Recently, MAHLE has introduced a high-performance drive solution that makes electric travel more reliable and economical by using a new drive motor. At the same time, the solution can be applied to various types of applications, including weakly mixed, strongly mixed vehicles, extended range vehicles, pure electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles.

From a technical perspective, MAHLE's new drive motor can cover a range of 48-800V operating voltage, high power density, high stability and strong cooling capacity. The drive motor is available in a variety of designs to meet different package requirements. At the same time, MAHLE is continuously developing new technologies to further improve the long-term performance of motors.

Right now, in order to deal with increasingly stringent automotive emissions regulations, 12V electrical systems in passenger cars are gradually being replaced by 48V systems. The 48V drive motor developed by MAHLE is not limited to urban commuting applications, but can also be used for heavy vehicles. The main advantage of this system is that it can eliminate the need for various safety measures and complex connectors at voltages below 60V. Compared with high-voltage solutions, the cost of motors and power electronics can be reduced by about a quarter.

In addition, after the acquisition of ebikemotion®, MAHLE will be able to provide two-wheel drive motors for mopeds and electric mopeds. In addition to hardware, MAHLE offers integrated networking solutions featuring mobile and networking applications.
