Medical Technology Pioneer: Medtronic Corporation in China

Medtronic began operations in China in 1989, and officially established offices and factories in 1996. Medtronic's sales in China account for more than 1% of the company's total sales, but have been growing at a rapid rate of 40% in the past 10 years.

In August 2012, Kehui China R & D Center in Pujiang Town, Shanghai was formally established. In the same period of the same year, Medtronic established the Shanghai Innovation Center in Zhangjiang, Shanghai. Three years later, with the merger of Medtronic and Kehui, the two R & D centers were officially integrated to become Medtronic's new China R & D center. This is also the largest research and development center outside Medtronic in the United States. On October 10, 2017, the foundation stone laying ceremony of Medtronic Medical Innovation Center was held in Chengdu Xinchuan Innovation and Technology Park, which is the third project of the global medical giant Medtronic to land in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone. It is reported that the project is expected to begin operation in 2020. Within 5 years of operation, it can train about 7,000 medical professionals each year.

Looking at Medtronic Global, China will also be the only market with two medical innovation centers.
