Meggitt and Bell Textron signed a five-year contract worth approximately $ 73 million. The contract stipulates that Meggit will provide Bell Textron's V-22 Osprey tiltrotor with composite material de-icing propeller rotor covers, heatable hub covers, fairings and swing bars.
The V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor is a military aircraft unique to the United States. It not only has the ability of ordinary helicopters to take off and land and hover in the air, but also has the ability of high-speed cruise flight of turboprop aircraft. Meggitt's electrothermal de-icing components are made of composite materials embedded in thermal technology.
Meggitt CEO Tony Wood said: "We are very grateful for the trust given by Bell Textron. We will provide a comprehensive solution for the V-22 Osprey, greatly improving flight safety, efficiency and performance.
