Netherlands Thermoplastic Composites Research Center (TPRC) develops composite molding overmolding technology

The second project of the Netherlands Thermoplastic Composites Research Center (TPRC) on the development of composite overmolding (also known as secondary molding) technology is about to conclude. This project has developed a structural analysis function for composite molded parts.

Using three commercial softwares: composite material simulation software AniForm, injection molding simulation software Autodesk Moldflow and structural analysis software Abaqus, the project has comprehensively simulated the process and developed a new geometric structure to characterize different loading conditions. Interface features. During the simulation process, the software can predict the mechanical properties such as the stiffness and strength of the component based on the collected data. New technology demonstrations developed by the project will be displayed to the public in the near future.

The follow-up project on composite molding technology will start in October this year. The project will continue structural analysis by developing the best process window for composite molding technology for aerospace and automotive composite materials.
