Nidec plans to build a US$1.9 billion plant in Europe to produce electric car motors

On November 2, according to foreign media reports, Nidec will invest 200 billion yen (US$1.9 billion) to build a new plant in Serbia to produce electric car motors to consolidate its position in the European market. According to reports, the plant is scheduled to start production in 2023, when the plant's annual output will be between 200,000 and 300,000 units, which will make the plant one of the largest such production centers in Europe. It is said that in addition to Serbia, Nidec also plans to produce electric car motors in France and Poland.

In June of this year, Nidec announced that it would invest about 100 billion yen (about 6.5 billion yuan) to build a plant in Dalian, China, and open a research and development base in the plant. In addition to the research and development of drive motors for pure electric vehicles, the base will also develop motors for home appliances.
