On May 31, 2018, Novelis (China) Aluminum Products Co., Ltd. and the Hi-tech Zone signed a second-phase project investment agreement, with a total investment of $ 218 million and a registered capital of $ 72 million. The second phase of the project will build a continuous annealing and heat treatment production line with an annual output of 100,000 tons, which will double the company's annual output of automotive body aluminum plates in Changzhou, China, and better serve the growing automotive aluminum demand in the Asian market. In addition, the Changzhou plant will be newly equipped with a high-speed slitter and a full-automatic packaging line. Novelis China expects that this expansion project will create about 160 more formal jobs.
The expansion of Novelis Changzhou plant will help to work with automakers to create the next generation of safer, lighter and more durable models, thereby optimizing the auto manufacturing industry and providing strong support for the industrial upgrading of high-tech zones.
