Tekni-Plex adds a new high-precision silicone tube extrusion line to its China manufacturing facility
Wayne, PA (January 24, 2019) – Natvar, a business unit of Tekni-Plex, has added a silicone tube extrusion line at its manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China, to expand production capacity and expand production capacity. Production of smaller silicone tubes.
The new equipment expands the inner diameter range of the extruded silicone tube to 0.2-25 mm (0.0079-0.984 inches), the wall thickness reaches 0.10-3.0 mm (0.0039-0.118 inches), and the tolerance can be as low as +/- 0.03 mm 0.001 inches). This new single-lumen silicone tubing is designed to better serve a range of medical pump applications, including peristaltic pumps and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pumps.
The silicone tube can withstand a wide range of temperature changes and various chemicals, while maintaining its original strength and flexibility. In addition, it does not support microbial growth, which makes it ideal for pump applications in medical devices and pharmaceuticals. For PCA analgesic pumps, the size and tolerance control of silicone tubing is critical. Small differences or irregularities in tube wall thickness can severely reduce pump life. Tekni-Plex silicone tubing has tolerances as low as +/- 0.03 mm (0.001 inch).
