Plastic Omnium, the world’s top automotive body module and automotive fuel system supplier, opens R & D center in China / Belgium

Composite material company Plastic Omnium is strengthening its innovation strategy and has opened new R & D centers in China and Belgium. To meet the new challenges of the automotive industry in the future, Plastic Omnium is committed to the development of exhaust emission control and fuel systems and new energy technologies. To this end, BIO invested 100 million Euros in R & D centers in Wuhan, China and Belgium.

It is reported that the Omegatech R & D Center in Wuhan, China is equipped with 150 engineers and technicians to provide talent support to Plastic Omnium, aiming to meet the requirements of its Asian customers for environmentally friendly mobility. At present, there are 57 projects under development, and the establishment of the Omegatech R & D Center will promote the growth of its business in China. It is estimated that by 2022, the market share of its fuel system will double to 17%.

The Belgium Deltatech R & D Center is adjacent to Brussels Airport. The center has been operating since July 1, 2019. It is committed to research and development of emission reduction and fuel systems, and actively develops new energy, fuel cells and hydrogen storage technologies. By the end of 2019, the center is expected to have 150 engineers and technicians.

Plastic Omnium was established in 2006 and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of BIO Group of France in 2013. The company mainly produces front bumpers, roof covers, front outer panels, and shrouds. The company's current innovation strategy is to provide cleaner, safer and more connected vehicles, and reducing exhaust emissions is the top priority.
