Poongwon Precision has successfully developed a Fine Metal Mask (FMM) for Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED) that is 100% monopolized by Japan. At present, mass production verification has been completed, and it has been supplied to display panel manufacturers.
According to Korean media ETNews, Poongwon Precision said on February 6 that it has passed the verification of FMM technology for 6GH (6G Half) OLEDs from demand companies, and will be able to supply it early next month. 6GH is a half-size panel using the sixth-generation OLED substrate, which can be used to make mobile phone displays such as smartphones. FMM for OLED has been exclusively supplied by DNP Corporation of Japan. The market size is estimated to be more than 500 billion won.
Poongwon Precision has devoted itself to the Korean localization of FMM after Japan imposed export controls on Korean materials and parts. In 2020, it will be jointly developed with major display panel manufacturers to complete mass production verification. Poongwon PrecisionFMM is the only technology in mass production supply to display panel companies by wet etching. The company explained that the characteristics of its FMM material are less deformation, uniform characteristics and high production efficiency.
Poongwon Precision has also jointly developed the INVAR film, the core material of FMM, with Hyundai Bng Steel, which is equivalent to having a stable supply system for materials and parts. The intellectual property rights are ensured through FMM technology first-use rights and multiple source patent verifications. In addition, the company will also promote the mass production of the eighth-generation OLED FMM. This is in order to respond to the rapid growth of the IT equipment display market such as notebook computers and tablet computers. Last year, the company completed an equipment investment of 16 billion won (about 84.86 million yuan) and plans to build a production line within the first half of the year. FMM process equipment is currently being introduced.

Improve." Poongwon Precision was the first in 2003 to develop the Korean localization of split FMM, Open Metal Mask, Stick Bar Mask and other display metal masks.
