Porcher Industries promotes 5G communication technology applications for thermoplastic glass fiber composites, Developed a new Satcom radome for Meggitt

Bossier Industries, a provider of advanced fabric and composite thermoplastic solutions, announced today that it has developed a new Satcom radome for Meggitt. Meggitt Group specializes in intelligent engineering solutions in extreme environments. It mainly produces high-performance devices and subsystems for aerospace, weapon defense and energy markets.

This new Satcom radome will be used to enhance 5G signal connections during flight flights.

Previously, the Meggitt Group made a request to Bosser Industries, hoping that the latter could develop a composite material solution that not only has high impact resistance, is easy to process, but also has a dielectric constant for the radome ( Dk) is optimized to facilitate 5G signal transmission between air and ground. After receiving the task, Bosser Industries developed its glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite product using its own technology and experience in glass fiber, bonding chemistry and manufacturing process.

The advantage of using a composite radome is that it can maintain a low permittivity and loss factor at a frequency of gigahertz, has a low production cost, and is easy to process. This cooperation is provided by BGF Industries, a BGF Industries company located in Greensboro, North Carolina, which provides a highly innovative glass fiber reinforced composite material, which brings convenience for production and recycling to Meggitt Group.

Meggitt's expertise in the design and manufacture of radomes, coupled with Boshe Industries' strengths in material development and production, the close cooperation between the two parties has successfully promoted the advancement of 5G communications technology in flight operations.
