Renishaw and Sandvik jointly advance the future of metal additive manufacturing technology

In order to promote the development of the metal additive manufacturing (AM) industry, the multinational engineering technology company Renishaw has established a cooperation with Sandvik's additive manufacturing department to provide it with a high-performance RenAM 500Q multi-laser additive manufacturing system, which will greatly Improve Sandvik's 3D printing capabilities.

This is the largest deployment of Renishaw's newest material manufacturing system, the RenAM 500Q, to date. The system is equipped with a mainstream-sized processing platform and four 500 W high-power lasers, so it can greatly improve production efficiency while ensuring that the processing quality is not affected at all.

Sandvik intends to use this investment to enhance its existing 3D printing technology capabilities and strengthen its leading position in the growing additive manufacturing market. Renishaw will provide ongoing technical support to Sandvik. The two companies also plan to cooperate in areas such as material development, additive manufacturing technology and post-treatment processes.

"Renishaw is a leader and innovator in the field of metal additive manufacturing and metrology, so it will be the perfect additive manufacturing partner," said Robin Weston, market manager of Renishaw's additive manufacturing products department. The entire industry chain of metal manufacturing has a good performance, especially in the production of fine metal powder for additive manufacturing has a leading edge, in machining, heat treatment and sintering, and other post-processing processes are also at the world-leading level. Manufacturing is on the rise, and our cooperation will strengthen Sandvik's market position. "

"Sandvik has been a leader in the additive manufacturing metal powder market. Since 2013, we have invested heavily in various metal 3D printing technologies. The newly purchased RenAM 500Q multi-laser system will effectively improve our current 3D printing. Capacity Layout-With the rapid development of the industry, our cooperation with Renishaw will benefit both parties, "said Kristian Egeberg, President of Sandvik's Additive Manufacturing Division.

Sandvik has announced earlier that it is promoting a series of investment plans totalling SEK 200 million for the construction of a new plant for the production of titanium and nickel powders for additive manufacturing. These investments will further enrich Sandvik's existing Osprey ™ powder product line, achieve full coverage of related alloy powder products, and further strengthen Sandvik's position as a market leader in additive manufacturing powder suppliers.
