Rogers introduces two ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (hereinafter referred to as UHMW-PE) film materials with UV resistance DeWAL® DW402UV and DW405BNCUV to meet the requirements of severe outdoor applications

On September 25, Rogers Corporation (NYSE: ROG) launched two ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) film materials, DeWAL® DW402UV and DW405BNCUV. The material is formulated to resist direct sunlight and other forms of ultraviolet light. The new material combines the strong and tough properties of UHMW-PE while maintaining its unique stability under outdoor UV irradiation.

Generally UHMW-PE products do not maintain stable properties under UV light. In fact, most products degrade if exposed to sunlight and other UV rays for long periods of time. Rogers' new DeWAL® DW402UV and DW405BNCUV materials are reinforced with fillers to increase the material's ability to withstand UV damage. At the same time, the improved formula also retains all key properties of UHMW-PE materials, such as the ultra-high wear resistance that far exceeds steel. Coupled with extensive chemical resistance and low coefficient of friction, the above material has become a versatile engineering material suitable for a variety of harsh outdoor environments.

These new materials are ideal for challenging applications such as chemicals, fuels, and internal and external surfaces of hydraulic hoses. Other applications include the lining of parachutes and material handling equipment to reduce friction and wear, as well as automotive weather strips.

"We are pleased to introduce new UV-resistant UHMW-PE materials to address the particular challenges of outdoor applications. We want to provide consumers with a solution that can withstand direct sunlight," said Chris Brooks, senior product line manager at Rogers Corporation. . "
