Russia’s new technology increases the radar wave absorption rate of military aircraft windows by 1 times and enhances stealth capabilities

The skins of military aircraft often use a variety of modern stealth technologies, but the stealth of their glass windows is relatively weak. Russian researchers have developed a new coating technology that has doubled the radar wave absorption of military aircraft windows.

According to the Interfax news agency, experts from the "Technology" company located in Obninsk, western Russia, adjusted the material composition of traditional military glass and used magnetron sputtering coating technology to make polycarbonate, certain metals Metal oxides solidify and deposit on the outer surface of military aircraft glass windows to form multilayer coatings.

The test results show that the overall weight of the glass window of the military aircraft cabin made using this technology is reduced by about 50% compared to the original; the outer surface of the glass has a nanostructure coating, which can make the glass window absorb the enemy radar wave from 40% It is increased to 80%; the adhesion between the coating and glass is stronger than before, so the coating has better wear resistance under the strong impact of external airflow.

In addition, the impact resistance and light transmission of this glass window have been enhanced, which helps pilots to have better vision in the dim environment of external light.

Russian experts point out that the new glass windows will help shorten the effective detection radius of enemy radars, thereby increasing the operational potential and air combat survival rate of Russian military aircraft.

"Technology" general manager Silkin said that the optical equipment made with this coating technology can also improve the stealth of many other weapons, and its metal optical components help improve the performance of civilian glass products.
