ECTFE fluoropolymer film is made of ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene resin. This material has excellent properties of fluoropolymer films in the low temperature range of -200 ° C (-328 ° F) to 165 ° C (330 ° F).
ECTFE films provide the highest abrasion resistance of any fluoropolymer film. The film has excellent chemical resistance and very high tensile strength and flexural modulus. Its low surface energy makes it an excellent choice for release applications. ECTFE's low specific gravity produces more per pound square foot than other fluoropolymers, so it is lightweight and excellent. The combination of thermal stability, electrical characteristics and barrier properties brings insulation properties, and is particularly suitable for the electrical and electronics industries. ECTFE films have the highest dielectric strength of any fluoropolymer film.
ECTFE film has excellent weather resistance and high energy radiation. This material is suitable for electrical tapes, cable insulation, printed circuits, capacitors, chlorine batteries, flat cable structures and solar collectors.
ECTFE film has UL V-0 flame retardancy. This provides performance suitable for use inside the cabin and for fuel cell membranes.
