SKC and Mitsui Chemicals’ polyurethane division joint venture MCNS plans to establish polyurethane production base in St. Petersburg

MCNS, a joint venture between South Korean and Japanese chemical companies, has agreed to establish a production base for customized polyurethane products in St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg is a Russian port city on the Baltic Sea.

MCNS is a company founded by SKC and Mitsui Chemicals spinning off their polyurethane business. MCNS said on Monday that it has signed agreements with the St. Petersburg City Council and a head of a special economic zone on the construction of the system building.

According to the agreement signed on the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), MCNS will begin construction of a 15,000-ton / year production unit in September and be completed in the first half of 2020. The system building is a production base for customized polyurethane products for customers.

Russia's domestic polyurethane product market is solid. MCNS plans to provide high-quality products to Korean and Japanese customers in St. Petersburg and expand its supply to Russian companies in the future. MCNS has established polyurethane production bases in more than 10 countries, including Mexico, China, Poland and the United States.
