Solvay launches ultra-high temperature resistant nylon Amodel® Supreme PPA

On May 11th, Solvay announced the launch of Amodel®Supreme PPA (ultra-high temperature resistant polyterephthalamide) to the market, which is a carefully designed version of Solvay for demanding electric transportation and metal replacement applications. New high-performance PPA material.

As a leading innovator in the PPA chemical industry and the first company to promote PPA to the market, Solvay's Amodel® Supreme PPA provides superior performance for systems that require excellent thermal, mechanical, and electrical performance. The application range of this material covers the high temperature resistant components of various automotive electric drive units, including electric motors, power electronic components, high temperature electronic connector housings, and electrical and electronic equipment and telecommunication equipment components that require excellent high temperature resistance. .

In addition, Solvay's Amodel® Supreme PPA also has excellent stiffness and toughness, and can replace metal in traditional applications and structural components such as clutch cylinders, shift forks, and white housings.

Solvay's Amodel®PPA has been used in various parts under the hood of automobiles for 25 years. These applications have successfully replaced metals with plastics. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of Solvay's all-Amodel® Supreme is currently the highest in PPA on the market, reaching 165°C. This makes it more effective at high temperatures than traditional materials based on PA4T and PA6T. Better mechanical performance. At the same time, the coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CLTE) matching with metal has also been greatly improved, thereby reducing the difficulty of designing overmolded components.

In addition to excellent thermo-mechanical properties, the electrical properties of Amodel® Supreme PPA have also been further improved, including volume resistivity and dielectric strength above 150°C. After long-term exposure to high temperatures, this material can still maintain key electrical properties, such as relative tracking index (CTI). In addition, it can also maintain good hydrolytic stability when dealing with new electric vehicle coolants.

In addition, the first release lineup of Amodel®Supreme PPA includes 6 grades, divided into conventional, structural and electrical products, and will be supplied globally.
