On October 23, news about Apple Glasses has been increasing. Earlier this week, according to the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Sony will provide Apple with OLED micro-displays for use in AR/VR glasses equipment Apple Glasses. Display industry analyst Ross Young said that multiple sources mentioned that Apple does plan to use Sony's microdisplay technology for its head-mounted Apple Glasses.
According to the introduction of embedded vision technology supplier FRAMOS, Sony’s OLED microdisplay is a small “cut-edge” display screen with ultra-fast response speed, ultra-high contrast, wide color gamut, and can achieve accurate color reproduction, high Brightness, low reflectivity, very suitable for Apple glasses.
Sony's micro-display also integrates a driver to achieve a thin and light design, and has a power saving mode to extend battery life. In addition, the high contrast it provides allows additional information layers to appear seamlessly instead of simply superimposing. FRAMOS stated: "This information is directly added to the background to provide a "real AR experience."
"Nikkan Industry News" predicts that Apple's AR/VR glasses will be launched in 2021, and Mr. Guo predicts that it will wait until 2022 at the earliest. Young also believes that it needs to wait until 2022.
