Storopack launches new polyurethane foam for transportation protection

Storopack, a provider of protective packaging solutions, has launched a new type of polyurethane foam that has renewable ingredients that can be used to transport goods and reduce environmental impact.

The new packaging foam is called FOAMplus 5504RC and is partly composed of sugar-based materials obtained from renewable resources. The weight of renewable ingredients is only 0.30lb/ft3 (lb/cubic foot).

The "on-demand" packaging solution, when mixed with two liquid components, polyurethane without (H)CFC and HFC will expand to 220 times its liquid volume.

The hardened expanded foam takes on the shape of the packaged goods, making it suitable for cushioning, filling voids and shock absorption.

Marco Corradi, product manager of Storopack FOAMplus, said: "Resource-saving protective packaging is also very important in our industry and other fields." We attach great importance to the development of this protective packaging. "

"Our new FOAMplus 5504RC polyurethane foam is the first polyurethane foam on the foam packaging market with a renewable content of only 0.30lb/ft3. Our customers can expect our FOAMplus foam packaging to have excellent protective properties…"

High compression packaging foam protects heavy cargo, including mechanical and electronic parts and automotive parts.

In addition, lightweight packaging solutions minimize shipping weight and eliminate the use of oil-based foam. It can be reused many times.

Packaging foam is currently available from Storopack in North America.
