Stockholm-based venture capital company Industrifonden has recently invested $ 1.5 million in Swedish metal 3D printing company Freemelt in order to support the company's promotion of the Freemelt One system and accelerate the transformation of metal 3D printing. Currently, the division is developing the first open source EBM 3D printer.
Freemelt One is an electron beam melting 3D printer for the development of additive manufacturing materials. It only needs a small amount of powder to run, and users can quickly and economically test different metal powders. Thanks to the open source system, users can adjust and develop code and share it within the community to accelerate the development of future materials.
Freemelt will eventually use its experience in EBM to produce commercial systems and enter the field of metal additive manufacturing.
