Teijin Group’s para-aramid fiber and Tenax carbon fiber composite board for the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam

Teijin Group (Tokyo, Japan) announced that its 185 composite panels made of para-aramid fiber and Tenax carbon fiber were used for the facade and new wing ceiling of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (Amsterdam, Netherlands). Teijin said that it is 100 meters by 25 meters, and it is the first largest composite building in the world to use para-aramid fiber and Tenax.

Due to its unique shape, the museum's new wing is called a "tub". Para-aramid fibers produced by Teijin Aramid BV in the Netherlands and Tenax carbon fibers produced by Teijin Carbon Europe GmbH in Germany are combined with vinyl ester resin in the composite laminate to form a composite sandwich structure with a PIR foam core. It is reported that para-aramid fiber and Tenax fiber shrink as the temperature rises. Unlike the expansion resin, it is reported to ensure minimum thermal expansion of the sheet while providing structural stability.

Since 2007, Teijin Group has sponsored the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, a cultural initiative based on the company's corporate philosophy, which aims to live in harmony with society. Teijin sponsors the Colorful Japan exhibition, which opens on September 7 to emphasize the close ties between Japan, Teijin and the Netherlands.
