Swiss fastener technology company Bossard Group acquires 49% of Swiss 3D printing service provider 3d-prototyp to expand 3D printing business

Swiss fastener technology company Bossard Group has acquired a 49% stake in Swiss 3D printing service provider 3d-prototyp. Bossard intends to acquire 100% of 3d-prototyp in the next three years. The acquisition is part of Bossard's long-term plan to establish itself in the 3D printing industry.

Bossard's new partner 3d-prototyp is one of the largest 3D printing solution providers in Switzerland. The company offers a range of 3D printing services for prototyping and end-use products. It has a range of FFF / FDM 3D printers, including Stratasys Fortus 450, 900, 360 and 400, and industrial-grade Dimension Elite. In addition to FDM, 3d-prototyp also provides HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology through the 4200 system.

Earlier this year, Bossard signed TRUMPF's laser metal fusion (LMF) and laser metal deposition (LMD) machines, including TRUMPF's TruPrint 5000. In addition to this, the group also signed two distribution contracts, one using a 3D printer and material manufacturer Germany RepRap, and the other working with German chemical manufacturer Henkel, which itself is increasing productivity of 3D materials.

Through these transactions, Bossard now has distribution rights for four different 3D printing technologies: laser metal fusion, laser metal deposition, FDM and stereolithography. Under the distribution agreement, Bossard can also provide 3D printing materials such as resins, metal powders and filaments.

According to Bossard, the investment in 3d-prototyp will enhance logistics companies' understanding of 3D printing technology and expand their channel network in the industry. The company plans to make further strategic investments in 3D printing in the coming years.
