Seoul Semiconductor: Application of Natural Spectrum LEDs in Health Lighting and High-end Commercial Lighting

On November 13th, the "OFweek (15th) China LED Lighting Industry Development Summit Forum", which was sponsored by OFweek Veken and Hi-tech Association of China's high-tech industry portal and hosted by OFweek Semiconductor Lighting Network, was officially held in Shenzhen. At the conference, Wu Sen, vice president of the Semiconductor Marketing Department of Seoul, delivered a keynote speech on "Application of Natural Spectrum LEDs in Health Lighting and High-end Commercial Photos", which specifically explained health lighting, high-quality commercial lighting, and museum lighting.

In recent years, China's LED lighting market has shifted from decorative lighting, outdoor lighting, indoor lighting to intelligent lighting and high-end lighting, and it will develop into health lighting and human-based lighting in the future. Wu Sen said that the future lighting will be people-oriented, not only to meet the corresponding illuminance, brightness and convenient control, but also to create healthy, comfortable and efficient lighting according to the scenes, lighting needs, physiological and psychological characteristics used by people, and provide Illumination light environment that is good for physical and mental health.

Next, Mr. Wu Sen introduced the five major elements of health lighting, and analyzed the importance, progress, and relevant standards of health lighting from the aspects of light and dark visual effects, the effect of blue light on the retina, non-visual effects of light, and human circadian rhythm. At present, health lighting is mainly used in medical, classroom, home, office and other fields. In terms of hospital lighting, medical institutions are using people-oriented lighting to increase the cooler color temperature in the staff area to keep employees alert during shifts; use a warm color temperature in patient rooms to keep patients comfortable during rest and recovery. In terms of classroom lighting, the school is also using people-centered lighting to make students quiet or refreshing based on the time of day. In commercial lighting, the effect of proper lighting color temperature can make the office environment more natural and comfortable, while increasing productivity.


In commercial lighting and museum lighting, different functional areas, products / exhibitions have different requirements on the illuminance uniformity, glare, color temperature, color rendering, and illuminance of the light source. It is necessary to use general lighting to achieve uniform lighting of the entire scene; but also to use local lighting to highlight the goods / exhibitions, create different visual effects, and let the audience better appreciate the exhibits.

Because LED lighting has low energy consumption and has extremely low ultraviolet and infrared components, it can meet the functional requirements of museum lighting, that is, to correctly represent the shape, color, and texture of exhibits through lighting, and to control glare and shadow to prevent exhibits from being heated. Damage from radiation and ultraviolet radiation. Moreover, the dimming function of the LED makes the control of the illuminance relatively easy. In this regard, Wu Sen said that in actual work, after removing the ultraviolet and infrared rays of the light source, it is best to use an artificial light source close to daylight, and grasping the effect of dominant colors is very necessary to restore the work. He believed that the quality of lighting is related to lighting design, lamp design and LED light source.

In terms of high-quality LED light sources, Seoul Semiconductor has overcome the limitations of artificial light sources and introduced the SunLike series of products that are closest to the spectrum of sunlight.
