Syneron Candela, the world's leading beauty equipment company, announced the acquisition of Danish medical equipment company Ellipse. Ellipse manufactures and markets platforms based on intense pulsed light (IPL) and lasers for various medical and cosmetic skin treatments. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Ellipse's main products include multi-application, multi-technology IPL and Nd: YAG (laser chrome) platform Nordlys for vascular and pigmented lesions and hair removal. Nordlys also offers a fractionated 1550nm head for firming skin. Other products include IPL systems for skin rejuvenation, facial veins and hair removal, and partial non-ablation laser systems for firming and rejuvenating skin. Ellipse's Selective Band Technology (SWT®) applies unique dual filtering to all IPL heads, focusing on the effective wavelength and selectively providing precise energy to the target area.
