On June 22, Taiwan's semiconductor silicon chip factory GlobalWafers and National Jiaotong University jointly developed third-generation semiconductor material technologies including silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN).


Chen Xinhong, acting principal of Jiaotong University, said that SiC and gallium nitride (GaN) are very promising semiconductor materials, and are very important for the success of 5G and electric vehicles.

Chen Xinhong pointed out that the University of Jiaotong University combines the research groups of professors in various schools, takes the compound semiconductor material research and talent cultivation plan as the main axis, and cooperates with Global Crystal to accelerate the development of SiC and GaN, create an industrial-academic mutual feedback cycle mechanism, and cultivate international research and development. Team to enhance the global competitiveness of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry.
