The aluminum alloy forged ring for aerospace, which was successfully declared by ZLXN for the single champion product of the manufacturing industry, is a key connection and structural material mainly used in the connecting frame, transition ring, and adapter frame of spacecraft such as launch vehicles and space stations.
ZLXN began the development of aluminum alloy forged rings for aerospace use in the 1970s, and successfully developed aluminum alloy forged rings with a diameter of 3.5 meters in the 1980s, which were successfully applied to the Long March 2 bundled launch vehicle.
In 2007, ZLXN overcame technical difficulties such as large ingot casting, forging billeting, ring rolling, cold deformation, etc., and developed aluminum alloy forging rings with a diameter of 5 meters. The original core forging technology filled the gap in China and was successfully applied to the Long March-The fifth generation launch vehicle.
In 2015, ZLXN developed the first super large aluminum alloy integral forged ring with a diameter of 9 meters, setting a world record.
In 2016, ZLXN successfully conquered a number of key core technologies such as rolling, forming and heat treatment, and developed a super-sized aluminum alloy forged ring with a diameter of 10 meters, which once again set a world record and solved major key technical problems for the development of China’s heavy-duty launch vehicle.
According to reports, at present, ZLXN is one of the few companies in China that can produce 5-meter-class aluminum alloy integral forged rings and the world’s first enterprise that can produce 10-meter-class aluminum alloy integral forged rings. ZLXN provides 95% of the aluminum alloy forged rings required by various launch vehicles in use in China.
